Celebrity Sketches & Caricatures
I'll start with this sketch of Mahatma Gandhi, assembled in Adobe Illustrator 2020. For those unfamiliar with Indian history, Gandhi was a civil rights activist
who successfully lobbied for independence from the British Empire through non-violent resistance. This he and his followers finally achieved on August 15, 1947, but
not everyone supported the religious diversity he advocated. Hence the former colony's division into two distinct nations, with the new India flanked by
Muslim-dominated Pakistan and what is now Bangladesh. With numerous inhabitants displaced by these new boundaries, religious violence broke out, in the midst of which
Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948. His birthday, October 2, has since become a national holiday in India.
Below is a political figure who does NOT advocate for peaceful solutions... except with the brutal dictators he openly admires. Here he is demanding his lunch (I hope he intends to pay for it).

Featuring the late senior track-and-field athlete Olga Kotelko, who held as many as 26 world records. How fit will you be at 94? Would you still be able to compete with her?
The drawing itself is now featured in Olga: The O.K. Way to a Happy, Healthy Life, a memoire of her experiences in the 2012 Olympics. Co-authored by Roxanne Davies, it is now available in hard cover, paperback and e-book editions.

Next is this caricature for a friend's web site, featuring movie reviews by the pair featured in this medium shot.
Actor Ian Holm in his most famous film role as a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins.
I wonder what he's thinking? Is he worried there might not be enough leaf to fill his pipe? Or is he trying to avoid another encounter with his unpleasant cousins, the Sackville-Bagginses? Or is he mulling over what to say in his big farewell speach?
And, as Gollum once put it, "What does it have in its pocketses?"
